Meet The Author, Marjorie Daley

From the realization that scratch marks on paper conveyed stories, Marjorie Daley has been fascinated with writing. This passion eventually became a career in marketing and then as an author.
Marjorie is a Wyoming resident with a long family history in the state beginning in 1868. Her childhood involved traveling around the world, following her civil engineer father as he served as project manager for many roads and bridges. This exposure resulted in a love of travel, complete bewilderment between English and American spelling, and an appreciation for other cultures.
She graduated from high school in Laramie, Wyoming and then graduated from Idaho State University in Pocatello, with degrees in Ecology and Mass Communications (General Studies). Research is one of Marjorie’s strengths and has become the basis of her fiction writing. Experience writing as a journalist helped her to refine her writing style to one of brevity and clarity. After preparing vast arrays of written public relations material for not-for-profits, she began writing blogs for a variety of companies, gaining experience in real estate, basic finances, personal injury law, and alternative health practices. When the opportunity to write a book for LP Publishing came along, Marjorie jumped at it. Her first two books, on dogs, were written for this publisher. Her first fiction book, Fire Ground, was almost thirty years in the making and draws heavily on her husband’s and father’s experiences as firefighters.
The New Adults’ Guide to Basic Finances was a labor of love for her young adult children, who despite all attempts to educate them, did not pay attention to money matters until they started earning it. This book became the inspiration for MoneyWork$, a series of videos for teens on understanding finances, written and directed by Laramie playwright, Deborah Kassner.
Her interest in historical fiction about ordinary women living extraordinary lives was inspired by the reality of women’s achievements and the frustration about how their achievements and lives are ignored.
Marjorie lives on the high plains of Wyoming with her husband Bob, horse Miss Penny, and dogs Diesel and Tira. Her two children and stepson are grown and are making their own history.
